Our Seven Year Anniversary :)

Ready for an evening out to celebrate our seven year anniversary. Aunt Sissy hangin' out with Jonas and Josie.
Not only was July 28th Jonas' first day of kindergarten, it was also mine and Sam's seven year anniversary. Liz came over and watched the kids so that we could have an evening out to celebrate. Sam took me to Outback restaurant and our food was delicious. We had not been there in a really long time. Then we decided to do something low key so we went to Bearno's in Highlander Point where would could just hang out by ourselves and talk. With kids sometimes it takes times like these to get personal and REALLY talk!!! We are still best friends and madly in love after seven years and have two beautiful and good kids. How blessed are we!!!!!!!!!

Jonas' First Day Of Kindergarten

Five minutes after Jonas woke up for his first day of kindergarten. Arriving at Lanesville Elementary School. Mrs. Schigur helping Jonas find his seat. Jonas scowling when he found out he was not sitting at Felix and Ben's table. All better now.....he accepted his new seat and began coloring a paper.
Jonas started kindergarten today at Lanesville Elementary School. They are on the all year round school schedule so he started earlier than most schools. His teacher's name is Mrs. Schigur and she is very nice. Jonas knows several kids in his class from preschool at St. Johns and also baseball. He was very excited to arrive at school and then walk into his classroom. However, when he saw he would not be sitting at a table with any of his buddies, but with kids he did not know, he did get a bit of a scowl on his face. However, he quickly settled in and started to color a paper that was at his table. Now, he really did not pay much attention to me once we walked into his classroom, so Josie and I just stood back and watched him for a few minutes. When we started to walk out, Jonas looked up and smiled big and waived bye to us. I did not cry, Jonas did not cry, BUT.......Josie did cry as we walked out the door saying, "my bubby, my bubby". It was sad but cute. I have butterflies in my stomach, but I guess that is to be expected. Daddy has already called home to check on the morning. Now, I just can't wait to pick him up and ask him about his first day in kindergarten. My baby boy is growing up!!!!

Holiday World Fun!

Dandaw with Santa and the kids. Jonas and Josie sitting on the Indian. We love Holidog. Bubby and Sissy watching a Holidog show together......how cute! Look at those crazy characters. Mommy and daddy with the kids and Santa for year 2008. Josie's 2nd favorite part of Holiday World.......roasted corn! Chillin' with Dandaw at the water park. Jonas and Josie's favorite part of Holiday World was Monsoon Lagoon! The kids wore daddy out.....but he was lovin' it. Daddy took both kids at the same time down the slides.
The kids riding the airplane. Now they are riding a fighter plane. Dandaw and Jonas riding a cool, new ride in the kiddie park! The good ol' bumper boats. Having fun in the canoe.
We spent the day at Holiday World on July 17th. Dandaw joined us and we all had a ball! We took Jonas for the first time at age two and have been every year since. This was Josie's first time and she LOVED it. Jonas was able to ride a lot more rides this year and mommy, daddy and Dandaw took turns riding with him. Everyone's favorite part was Splashin Safari Water Park. Dandaw and Josie hung out at the Wave pool while mommy and daddy took Jonas on a water slide. Jonas was a little scared while waiting in line, but once we headed down the curvy slide on a big inner tube, he kept saying "this is awesome." The best part of the water park was the Monsoon Lagoon where the kids could climb and go down several slides. Mom even pulled me out to be in the middle of a monsoon from the large bucket that dumps LOTS of water. The last part of our evening was spent at Holidog Park where the kids watched a Holidog show. Jonas even got up on stage and played a blow-up saxophone. We then played the same game Jonas loves to watch his daddy play every year. Then, at last, our moment with Santa Clause. Four years in a row we have ended our Holiday World evening getting our picture taken with Santa Clause. What a great tradition! Thanks to Dandaw for going and sharing this great experience with us.

Bad Dreams!!!

Jonas has been showing up in mommy and daddy's room for the past month and a half. We have talked to him about it and he says he is having bad dreams. We have tried to talk him thru it and guided him on when he wakes up from a bad dream to pray for God to watch over him and make him safe. However, when we told him not to come in our room anymore, apparently he decided to hide under the bed and sleep so we wouldn't see him . Here are a few pix of us finding him in the morning asleep under our bed.

Happy 5th Birthday Jonas

Happy Birthday Jonas! He turned five today. He has been with Grandma Jane and Pawpaw Tom for the past few days and attending VBS at their church. Today Jonas decided he wanted to come home so Josie and I made the trip to E-town to pick him up. I am so glad he got to spend a few days with the Powers Grandparents and then come home on his birthday. He was born at 6:44 PM July 11th, so he was with his parents at the time he was born five years ago. His sissy really missed him, so we were very happy to be together as a family on his birthday night. Grandma Jane and Pawpaw Tom got him a bunch of army gear as you can see from the pix. Grandpa Van gave him MONEY. We will be celebrating his birthday party on Sunday with more pix to follow.
